TIPS MENJADI SUAMI YANG DIHORMATI ISTRI

TIDAK sedikit suami ingin dihormati oleh istrinya, tetapi keliru menempuh jalan. Ada yang meninggikan suara agar ditakuti. Ada yang menekan agar dituruti. Padahal penghormatan tidak lahir dari rasa takut, tetapi dari akhlak dan keteladanan.
Lalu bagaimana cara menjadi suami yang benar-benar dihormati istri?
- Perbaiki hubungan dengan Allah
Wibawa sejati dimulai dari ketaatan. Rasulullah saw bersabda:
“Barangsiapa memperbaiki hubungannya dengan Allah, maka Allah akan memperbaiki hubungannya dengan manusia.” (HR. Ahmad)
Suami yang menjaga shalat, menundukkan pandangan, dan menjaga lisannya akan memancarkan ketenangan. Dari situlah muncul rasa hormat tanpa diminta.
- Memimpin dengan ilmu, bukan emosi
Banyak konflik rumah tangga terjadi karena keputusan suami diambil dengan emosi, bukan dengan ilmu. Allah SWT berfirman:
“Laki-laki (suami) itu pelindung bagi perempuan (istri), karena Allah telah melebihkan sebagian mereka (laki-laki) atas sebagian yang lain (perempuan), dan karena mereka (laki-laki) telah memberikan nafkah dari hartanya…” (QS. An-Nisa: 34)
Suami yang dihormati memahami hak dan kewajibannya. Tidak tergesa-gesa dalam marah dan berpikir sebelum bertindak. Karena pemimpin tanpa ilmu hanya akan melukai, bukan menyelesaikan masalah.
- Menjadi teladan sebelum memberi perintah
Keteladanan adalah sumber wibawa. Rasulullah saw adalah contoh terbaik dalam rumah tangga. Aisyah ra berkata:
“Rasulullah biasa membantu pekerjaan keluarganya.” (HR. Bukhari)
Jika ingin istri shalat, jadilah yang paling menjaga shalat. Jika ingin istri berakhlak baik, perbaiki akhlak diri. Perintah tanpa contoh hanya melahirkan penolakan.
- Berakhlak lembut dan menjaga lisan
Keras bukan tanda kuat. Kasih sayang justru menunjukkan kematangan.
“Sesungguhnya kelembutan tidaklah ada pada sesuatu melainkan akan menghiasinya.” (HR. Muslim)
Suami yang dihormati tidak suka membentak, tidak suka merendahkan, dan tidak membuka aib istrinya. Karena luka dari lisan bisa menghapus rasa hormat.
- Menunaikan tanggung jawab dengan baik
Penghormatan tumbuh dari tanggung jawab yang nyata.
Allah SWT berfirman:
“Dan kewajiban ayah memberi makan dan pakaian kepada para ibu dengan cara yang patut.” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 233)
Suami yang bertanggung jawab akan menafkahi dengan halal, hadir secara emosional, dan peduli terhadap kebutuhan istrinya. Bukan hanya memberi, tapi juga memperhatikan.
- Menghargai dan memuliakan istri
Rasulullah saw bersabda:
“Sebaik-baik kalian adalah yang paling baik kepada keluarganya…” (HR. Tirmidzi)
Suami yang menghormati istrinya akan lebih mudah dihormati balik. Ia mendengar, menghargai, dan tidak meremehkan. Karena dalam rumah tangga, rasa hormat itu saling menguatkan.
Kesimpulannya, menjadi suami yang dihormati bukan tentang siapa yang paling berkuasa, siapa yang paling keras
atau siapa yang paling ditakuti. Namun tentang siapa yang paling bertakwa, paling baik akhlaknya dan paling bertanggung jawab.
Karena pada akhirnya…
Istri tidak benar-benar menghormati suami karena posisinya, tetapi karena kualitas suaminya. Bukan karena ia bisa memerintah, tetapi karena ia layak untuk dimuliakan.
